Party Boys!
18.3.05 - Bill suggested
just the other day that it wouldn't hurt to remind people that Mike,
Bill & Robbo are available to play silly buggers at birthday
parties and such - by which I mean that we could burst in as surprise
entertainers and play a selection of your favourite songs to the
stunned assemblage, and then just as magically disappear! No need
for amplification - just as acoustic as anything and in-yer-face
shock value. Consider it when you're planning that difficult 50th
for your weird partner. Call Jenny 0419 842 312 and discuss
the gruesome details |

Major changes
underway for Spectrum
18.3.05 - If you've checked out
the Book Spectrum page lately you will have noticed some major changes
in the way Spectrum is being marketed. Spectrum
will now be exclusively the quartet, with Mike, Bill and Robbo being
joined by Daryl Roberts on keyboards. Spectrum
will play material from the Spectrum, Indelible Murtceps and Ariel
repertoires.
Spectrum Plays The Blues (SPTB) will play (wait
for it!) the blues, as heard on the Spill and No Thinking
CDs and will be aimed at the pubs and blues festivals.
The duo (Mike Rudd & Bill Putt) will be more
active and will play the more ambient end of the material as represented
on the Living On A Volcano CD, plus nylon-string versions
of Spectrum songs and some blues. Check out the Book
Spectrum page for more details. |

Mike's Pith
& Wind - Inertia
My father, which art usually in Rotorua, was
in town recently for a holiday. This gave me the novel but discomforting
experience of seeing myself as I might be in twenty years time.
I have only recently (in the last ten years or so) re-established
some sort of relationship with my father, (hence the novelty), and
I still can’t bring myself to call him ‘dad’,
and I don’t think I ever will. In any case, we both feel comfortable
with my calling him David, and he feels comfortable calling me Michael,
or more often, Richard (my brother).
Not that he’s feeble minded. In fact, for an 80yr old |

21.3.05 - The Mullet is the iconic hairstyle of a generation,
and I think I can remember when I thought it was groovy. (Well,
there you go – groovy!) Of course, there’s a mullet
website. You owe it to yourself to check
it out. |

Inertia
- (cont.)
he’s in pretty good shape all round - that is if you like
your 80yr olds all round. (Well, he has put on a little in the girth
department). All jocularity aside though, there are some disconcerting
characteristics appearing in my own repertoire of quirks that I
can identify as coming from the shuffling gene pool that is my father.
It’s especially disconcerting because we’ve had so little
to do with each other over the years. By the time I was about five,
mother had sent read
