night out with friends in the Christine Nixon Room
5.6.11 - The last time I was at the Courthouse Hotel
in North Melbourne was when I made a surprise appearance at
my friend Trevor Leeden's retirement 'do' back in whenever,
so when my landlady and very good friend Jane Greagg arrived
in town and asked me to come up with a place to dine on Saturday
night I remembered the Courthouse and duly made a reservation
for three for 7.30.
As it turned out, we were led upstairs by my svelte blonde Russian
mailorder bride (in my dreams) to the very same room I'd burst
into to the bemusement of Trevor's friends. I ordered a bottle
of Muddy Waters pinot noir, which Peter and I agreed went very
well with the oysters - and all the other stuff we ordered for
that matter. Peter and I observed the couple on the adjacent
table simultaneously produced their iPhones when they'd finished
eating and we surmised some likely scenarios and laughed about
how Generation Y were slaves to their phones - then Peter's
phone rang (pic) with some vital info on the Collingwood
game.. |
