A precious few days at the Brittendens'
10.3.10 - My old Art School mate, Tony Brittenden, (pic 2) met me at Christchurch airport on Monday arvo (22nd of Feb.) and took me back to Lincoln where I proved I was over my caffeine-aversion by joining him in a coffee at the local Coffee Culture franchise. Robbie (pic 2) has grown a few more inches since I last saw him and has opted out of school in favour of a chef's course. He's already mastered the glassy-eyed 'tell someone who cares' stare and daily walks the tight-rope of telling mum what's wrong with her cooking without actually doing it himself. (Jan's working on it).
Rowan (pic 1) is flatting in town so I slept in her bedroom over the week. I had a busy week dashing in and out of town and managed to alternate catching a bus from the Bus Xchange and being delivered to and fro by Jan. Tony was working of course, so I didn't see an awful lot of him, but we all got together on Sunday evening at Ro's work at Chateau on the Park and had a magnificent meal.
Incidentally, Tony checked out the serial number on my Strat' and discovered it was built about the same time as Ro was born, so I've now belatedly christened it 'Ro' in her honour. (I always knew it was a female).

What's been going on
15.2.10 - Peter Bird's funeral was last Friday. It was quite a draining experience for the family and in particular Peter's young grandchildren, to whom Peter was very attached. Pete's wife Margaret was very brave and dignified and I was glad I was able to be there. Such is our lot these days.
Dick's daughter, Liz, (pic) is off to the UK to be exploited mercilessly by some high-filutin' London legal firm. In return, of course, she will have ready access to the Continent, where I expect she will gambol to her heart's content from time to time, no doubt soaking up the much-vaunted Euro Culture in the process. You never know, she may even find the man of her dreams there.. Dick won't be necessarily too thrilled by that.
