The missing link..
30.7.09 -
I was soundly admonished by my Crow-eater friend, Iain Ross, for not having been more conscientious in keeping him (and you) abreast of my social doings per this column, but the fact is that there's been little to report. Iain is one of those rare beings that likes to check on ASR before the day proper gets under way, and we were celebrating his visit to Melbourne by indulging in some excellent pizzas and wine last night at the 1061 Pizza.
I forgot to take his photo, so I made sure to take one of my sister-in-law, Marg, when we had lunch at Spargos today. Marg was down to celebrate my niece Michelle's engagement over the weekend. The world keeps turning..

Give the people what they want..
7.7.09 - I was speaking with Bobby Valentine at the Debs' luncheon today and he was painting a bleak picture of his music career's current trajectory. In a room full of half deaf musos loudly trying to convince themselves and everyone else that they're simply taking it easy 'between tours,' I appreciated his candour, and, this might sound a little mean, his story actually made me feel a little better.
In the meantime, I'm taking my accountant's advice about looking round for alternative income streams and I auditioned for the Kung Fu Panda gig - that's me (pic) in the fat suit at the Jam Factory over the weekend. I'm sure it'll be better when I put the suit on the right way round..
