Pete and Marg Bird - what's up wiv yer thyroid then?
My health - the continuing saga
27.6.07 - There's always something there to remind me..
So sang Sandie Shaw in 1964 - it was a big hit for her. And it's true. When we arrived at San Remo on Sunday, I went into the hotel for a bit of a reccy - and ran into the Birds, Pete and Marg Bird from Upwey to be exact (pic left). The conversation turned to thyroids (as it does) and Marg remembered her dad had a couple of heart attacks before they sussed out it was his thyroid causing the trouble (they nuked it). So today I popped in to see my endocrinoligist back at the Epworth and discussed the parlous state of my own thyroid. My specialist couldn't work out why I seemed to have so much iodine in my system - and it wasn't till I got home that I thought I might
have discovered the source. First things first - a spot urine test first thing in the morning to see where the iodine level's at. I do love the smell of urine in the morning..

My health and My Camberwell
6.6.07 -
Regular readers will be aware this heart irregularity of mine has been going on for a while, and I thought I had it under control, but over the past couple of weeks it's rather ominously reappeared and has been quite persistent, so I've been encouraged to do something about it. As of today, I think we (me and my medical team) have got a handle on it. More tests to come, but the prognosis is that it's treatable.
The balloons pic (pic 1) was taken the morning of the medical adventure described in the P&W. Apparently they're hanging around early most mornings, but I'm not usually up that early and I found them quite, well, enigmatic. The second pic is another in the My Camberwell series, and is the view from the right of way alongside the Camberwell Safeway.

Another Richard in the family
I knew this would happen..
27.5.07 -
It's not even June yet, but I knew someone couldn't resist seeing what this page was all about. It's true that the Rudd/Putt website takes a little getting used to, but it's rewarding enough if you persist. This page is another layer of the Rudd onion and is mostly the personal (but not too personal) blog of my daily life, made to seem the slightest bit more interesting by the intervention of people around me- like friends and relatives. The pic (left) is of my nephew Richard Cafarella, who has seen the light and left his family home on the Gold Coast for the far more interesting ambience of Melbourne town. I tottered up to the Sullivans' last night for a family gathering to celebrate Richard's 24th birthday and to welcome him to the Big Smoke. Richard has led a charmed life to date, making a living from hosting Karaoke nights, singing in bars and generally making bizarre personal life choices. He has some idea about re-recording I'll Be Gone, so I've invited him over to the AMS studios. I'll keep you informed of any progress.
