An erudite evening with Robyn Archer and some local philosophising

1) At the Playhouse for Robyn Archer's show 2) Essenza - an outpost of civilisation and our go-to hole-in-the-wall coffee joint in Healesville

3) Says it all really - there's no need for further graffiti
M&M see Robyn Archer with a familiar face
14.11.17 -
And I don't know Robyn Archer so it wasn't her face that was so familiar but George Butrumlis' bespectacled face peering amiably into the audience on Friday evening - without discerning that Maria and I had arrived, late but in time for the show and were occupying our complimentary seats that he'd organised with Robyn for us, probably the best seats in the house. I've never seen a Robyn Archer show and Maria last saw one forty years ago so we really had no idea where it was going to go, but thoroughly enjoyed the journey in company with a room full of Archer veterans. George invited us to join him and Robyn at the Art Centre's The Barre where we were duly introduced to the woman herself. Seasoned performer that I am I was astonished at how tiny she is in person - her stage presence is so commanding. Tables were scarce outside so we joined George and his friend Mark and niece Laura inside in the full glare of the in-house system where we were later joined by the pianist for Robyn's show, Professor Michael Morley, a fellow Kiwi.it turns out.
M and I popped down to Carlton yesterday and I spied the plaintive message (3) in the carpark where we usually park the poodle.
