Dog's day in Carlton
22.8.16 - I actually had remembered
that my former Art School mate Bret de Thier was
going to be in town about now, but I missed his
first couple of phone calls and had to ring him
back on Saturday to establish where he was (in Reservoir)
and where we might meet up. (Kiwis, even long-standing
resident Kiwis, have trouble with the local pronunciation
of Reservoor, preferring to risk derision
with an informed froggy Reservwah. Mind
you, our bravado only extended to intoning it in
exaggerated whispers with furtive looks at our neighbouring
tables).
I chose Brunetti's because it's easy to find, not
for any regard for quality of service (negligible)
or food quality (Maria's hot chocolate was tepid
at best), plus it was very noisy, of course. We'll
have to sort out something more suitable for future
liaisons. Anyway, it was good to catch up with everybody
and put us in mind of getting away from it all again
in Spring. |
