Tracy Bartram gets waylaid by a friend in Her Majesty's foyer - all class.
Out From Under
22.9.15 -
Tracy Bartram (pic) rang me late last week and invited Maria and me to Out From Under, the Entertainment Assist awareness and fund raiser show on at Her Majesty's last night (Monday). Tracy sorted the tickets and then we were in the free-loaders circle to take in what was essentially a variety show hosted by Julia Zemiro and MD'ed by Chong Lim. The mini-orchestra played, the dancers danced and everybody sang in tune - I liked it.

The State Theatre curtain has me yearning for choccies
Ballet has another crack at being inclusive
3.9.15 - On Tuesday night Maria and I went to the State Theatre and I had another go at interpreting ballet. There were three works on display by way of samplers - the first featuring the music of Igor Stravinsky, the second a world premiere from an Australian choreographer and the third a 1987 piece by Twyla Tharp and Philip Glass.
The first piece, featuring a battalion of 14 year old virgins in white swimming cossies, left me cold - apart from rhythmically there was no association between the music (played live by Orchestra Victoria) and what was scudding about on stage. The next two pieces however had me more enthralled than I've ever been at the ballet. There is hope yet.
