Pete Dodwell and me together again in Mount Waverley
Dodwell flies in - and out again
31.8.13 -
I know you'll find this hard to believe, but once upon a time I was younger and wore short pants and sang in the Christchurch Cathedral Boys Choir. Peter Dodwell (pic) was in that same choir back in the '50s and I haven't seen him since the Christ's College reunion in 1999, so it was nice to discover this week he was in town, (well Geelong), for a conference and catch up with the lad.
I used to go round to his home occasionally and we'd have enormous fun recording the sorts of things boys did back then on his new-fangled portable tape recorder. You never know, it might've been the inspiration for my subsequent career..

The Kiwi konnection
16.8.13 -
It's been however long it's been since the three of us Canterbury School of Fine Arts graduates* (Old Farts) last got together in Melbourne. A year or so ago perhaps? Anyway, Warren Sellers, Tony Brittenden and I (pic) met up at the Wazzer's home today and discussed past associates and acquaintances. Tony flew out of Christchurch this morning especially to be at Bill's Last Gig, which is one good result at least. We popped over to the Heide Museum before I went home to rehearse with Dirk and Robbo

Philip Jacobsen and I have a cuppa at Choclatté today
Bill's funeral
14.8.13 -
There's been no getting away from it - Bill's unexpected death has had a profound impact on me and consumed my every waking moment. The same goes for Bill's Strathewen family and community, of course.
The outpouring of shock and sympathy per text and e-mail has been quite beyond my ability to respond to adequately, but I hope to get around to it as time goes by.
There've been people arriving from all around Australia, including Spectrum and Ariel's manager, Philip Jacobsen, (pic) who came down from Qld to attend Bill's send-off today.
